Mandala is of Hindu origin. Mandala also translated as circle-circumference or completion which are derived from the Tibetan term dkyil khor. Mandala is being used for the books of the Rig Veda and also used in Buddhism in India. In Tibetan Mandalas have been developed into sandpainting and they are a key part of anuttarayoga tantra meditation practices.
In spiritual traditions Mandalas are use as a spiritual teaching tool for establishing a sacred space they are usually employed for focusing attention of aspirants and adepts as an aid to meditation and trance induction. For common use Mandala has become a generic geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically, a microcosm of the Universe from the human perspective.
